Through sculpture and experimental photography, Vix Koch explores the intersection between psychogeography and hauntology.

Artist Statement

Vix Koch explores the nuances of time and space through site-specific work that combines sculpture, experimental photography, and digital collage. By situating her work in rural environments, she investigates the interplay between the natural and the constructed, creating pieces that evoke mythic and surreal landscapes. Using materials such as wax, cardboard, papier-mâché, and plaster, Vix crafts sculptures inspired by pre-modern architecture. These sculptures are placed in rural settings where she employs double exposure and overlaying techniques to reimagine landscapes. Her main influences include psychogeography, hauntology, science fiction, and mythology.

Influences Behind the Art

Psychogeography and Hauntology are central to my exploration of landscapes. These concepts allow me to delve into the emotional and historical layers of a place, creating works that resonate with the unseen and the forgotten.
Drawing from Science Fiction and Mythology, I craft narratives that blend the real with the surreal. My sculptures and digital collages evoke otherworldly landscapes, inviting viewers to question the boundaries between the natural and the constructed.
